CSE Careers Expo

Wednesday March 8th, 1:00PM - 4:00PM in the Tyree Room, Scientia Building.

This is our largest CSE Careers Expo ever, with over 20 companies attending.

Open to all CSE Students.

CSE Students will be invited to attend at anytime between 1:00pm-4:00pm. They may approach exhibitors to ask about career opportunities, etc. Some exhibitors choose to have "give-aways" on their table, and some collect students' email addresses and/or resumes for follow-up information. Students in their final year may wish to bring along copies of their resume as some companies will request them.

The companies are looking for full-time graduates, part time work and summer internships

Jane St - Electronic Trading Competition

Saturday March 18th, 9:00AM - 10:00PM in Level 3, J17, UNSW

ETC is a day-long programming contest. Form teams to build a trading bot that will compete against others and the markets.

This event is for CSESoc members, however, all UNSW technical students are welcome.

Each member in the winning team will receive AU$0x3ff.

There'll be lots of (free) food and drink available.

Absolutely no knowledge of finance, nor OCaml, required. You can use any language, but we'll provide some helper libraries in a few common ones. The contest is entirely technical in nature and you won't need any visual design skills. Teams of up to three or four will be accepted. You don't have to have a team to sign up - feel free to turn up as a singleton and we'll form teams on the fly.

You will need to bring your student ID card, a laptop (don't forget your power cords!) and must be able to connect to UNSW wifi.

Due to space constraints not all students wishing to participate will definitely be able to attend. Sign ups will close on Tuesday March 14 and confirmation emails will be sent out on Wednesday March 15.

Jane St Estimathon

Thursday March 16th, 4:00PM - 5:00PM in Tyree Room, The John Niland Scientia Building

"What's an Estimathon" you ask?! It's a team contest where the goal is to create confidence intervals to difficult math and science questions. e.g., what's the volume of the earth's oceans (in cubic km); or, how many prime number contain strictly increasing digits. It's a very interactive game, and focuses on some ideas that are central to what we do at Jane Street: thinking about hard problems, assessing confidence levels, trying to strike a balance between quick-and-rough estimates versus more refined solutions. The game is pretty mathematically driven, but we welcome anyone interested in giving it a shot!

Spaces are limited so please RSVP soon if you're interested. The details of the event and confirmation of attendance will be sent via email closer to the event. We look forward to seeing you soon!
