Command Line Tools Workshop

Tuesday August 15th, 2:00PM - 4:00PM in Level 1 Seminar Room, K17.

Come and learn how to be a command line wizard.

I will show you some powerful and magical tools that you can use to optimise your workflow, and do so with colour and style.

Here is a taste of just some of the tools we will look at: zsh, tmux, ssh, git, ranger, ripgrep, skim, and many more.

If you haven’t done COMP2041 yet, and you missed the CSESoc UNIXverse workshop last semester, try out the lessons here: http://www.cse.unsw.edu.au/~nicolag/unix/

Beginner or expert, no matter how much experience you have I guarantee you will learn at least one, if not many things that will save you lots of time and make programming in a terminal much easier!

Week 4, Tuesday 15th K17 Seminar Room

[Palantir Technologies] Adventure is Calling!!!

Palantir Technologies is hiring for Forward Deployed Software Engineer New Grads and Interns!!!

Please apply directly online -- or send your CV to lsheung@palantir.com

Today’s critical institutions don’t just protect public safety or provide vital goods and services--they also deal with astonishing amounts of data. At Palantir, we build software that lets organizations integrate and analyze their data to solve problems they couldn’t before. For example, we’re helping our customers combat terrorism at home and abroad, investigate and prosecute financial fraud rings, offer more credit to retail banking customers, manufacture products faster and more safely, and fight violent crime in the world’s great cities. And we’re just getting started.

Forward Deployed Software Engineers (FDSEs) are responsible for technical success at our deployments. We’re highly technical and relentlessly curious, and we thrive when we’re in the middle of a hard problem. We work directly with users in the field to understand their workflows, prototype tools and features, and continually improve our products. From high-level system design to enterprise-scale data integration to application development, our work looks different every day. Put simply, we bring technical expertise to bear on the problems that matter most.
